Errores de concepto sobre la Conferencia de Escisión

Ha llegado a nuestra atención el hecho de que varias organizaciones han sido invitadas a una conferencia que trata ostensiblemente sobre “refundar la AIT” y que se celebrará en noviembre en España. Debido a que ello ha causado cierta confusión en cuanto a la naturaleza de la mencionada conferencia y para evitar cualesquiera malentendidos, nos gustaría clarificar unos cuantos temas.

 El Congreso de la Asociación Internacional de los Trabajadores se celebrará a principios de diciembre en Polonia. Este Congreso y únicamente este Congreso es el lugar en el que se pueden tomar acuerdos relativos a las propuestas presentadas a la Asociación por parte de la totalidad de sus Secciones miembro.

 La Conferencia que tendrá lugar en España, a la que han sido invitadas algunas organizaciones, no está organizada por la AIT aunque afirma ser una “conferencia para la preparación de la refundación de la AIT”. Es iniciativa es, por tanto, una escisión en la que se está invitando a organizaciones de fuera a decidir sobre el futuro de una federación a la que no pertenecen. Se celebra en contra de los estatutos, acuerdos y principios de la propia federación que afirma estar refundando y su propósito es excluir del proceso a una docena de otras Secciones miembro.

 Nos referimos a estos hechos ya que ha llegado a nuestra atención que algunos compañeros de todo el mundo pueden no haber sido informados de la naturaleza de la conferencia y crean que se trata simplemente de un evento de “solidaridad”. No obstante, la invitación enviada a estas organizaciones señala claramente que cual es su propósito en su título. Por tanto, aquellos que no son miembros de la Federación de la AIT, considerando realmente los principios básicos, pueden llegar preguntarse cómo es posible que alguien proponga dejar fuera a los Miembros y dar voz a los no miembros.

 La razón para llevar a cabo esta conferencia paralela antes de la legítima es involucrar a organizaciones de fuera en la formación del conflicto interno. En vez de presentarse ante los miembros. Tal maniobra es para dar la apariencia de que organizaciones de fuera están tomando partido en un conflicto interno y colocarlas en uno de los lados de la escisión. Así es como se tratará la asistencia de organizaciones de fuera, sea o no la intención de éstas.

 Con esta aclaración, esperamos informar a los miembros de base de varias organizaciones, que pueden no haber visto la invitación o no ser conscientes de las circunstancias. La AIT se reúne en diciembre y es en el Congreso donde las Secciones miembro deben discutir y tomar acuerdos sobre el futuro de la organización, no una reunión no estatutaria a la que se convoca a organizaciones de fuera para que interfieran y apoyen a la facción secesionista. Como hemos señalado anteriormente, hace falta tiempo para trabajar las cosas en concordancia con los procedimientos de nuestra federación y agradeceríamos que las organizaciones de fuera se abstuvieran de involucrarse en estos asuntos que nos afectan directamente y han de ser resueltos por nosotros mismos.

 Hacemos hincapié en que de ninguna manera queremos decir que cualesquiera organizaciones eviten ya sea a la AIT o la facción secesionista en asuntos tales como la solidaridad internacional, que debe continuar a pesar de estos tiempos difíciles. Es posible que no se alcance ninguna resolución de inmediato y que pueda existir un conflicto a más largo plazo, en el caso de que la facción secesionista continúe insistiendo en actuar en nombre de la federación que ya existe. La AIT ha intentado no involucrar a otras organizaciones en estos asuntos internos y no pedirles que tomen partido en la escisión. La facción secesionista, no obstante, ha decidido hacer justamente eso. Pedimos a la gente que tenga cuidado con tales circunstancias para que la situación no tenga más repercusiones negativas.

Misconceptions over Split Conference

It has come to our attention that various organizations have been invited to a conference ostensibly about „rebuilding the IWA” that is to be held in November in Spain. Due to the fact that this has caused some confusion as to the nature of said conference and to avoid any misunderstandings, we would like to clarify a few matters.

 The Congress of the lnternational Workers' Association is to be held at the beginning of December in Poland. This Congress and only this Congress is where decisions about the proposals submitted to the Association can be made by the entirety of its member Sections.

 The conference being held in Spain, to which some organizations were invited, is not organized by the IWA, although it claims to be a „conference for the preparation of the IWA refoundation”. This initiative is thus a split where outside organizations are being invited to decide over the future of a federation to which they do not belong. It is held against the statutes, agreements and principles of the very federation it claims to be refounding and its aim is to exclude a dozen other member Sections from the process.

 We refer to these facts since it has come to our attention that some comrades around the world may not have been informed to the nature of the conference and believe this is just an international „solidarity” event. However, the invitation sent to these organizations clearly state what the purpose is in the title. Therefore, those who are not members of the IWA Federation must really consider basic principles and ask how it is possible that anybody proposes to cut out the Members and give a voice to non-members.

 The reason for holding this parallel conference before the legitimate one is to involve outside organizations in shaping the internal conflict. Instead of coming before the membership. Such a maneouvre is to make it look as if outside organizations are taking sides in an internal conflict and to place them on one side of a split. This is how the attendance of outside organizations will be treated, whether or not that was their intention.

 With this clarification, we hope to inform the rank and file members of various organizations, who may not have seen the invitation or be aware of the circumstances. The IWA meets in December and it is at the Congress that the Member Sections must discuss and make decisions about the future of the federation, not any non-statutory meeting to which outside organizations are called to interfere and support the split faction. As stated before, time is needed to work things out in accordance with the procedures of our federation and we would appreciate it if outside organizations refrain from involvement in these matters which concern us directly and need to be resolved by ourselves.

 We stress that in no way do we imply that any organizations avoid either the IWA or the split faction in matters such as international solidarity, which must continue even through this difficult time. It is possible that no resolution will be reached right away and that a longer conflict may exist, should the split faction continue to insist on acting in the name of the existing federation. The IWA has tried not to involve other organizations in these internal matters or ask them to take sides in the split. The split faction however has decided to do just that. We ask that people be cautious about such circumstances so that the situation not have new negative repercussions.
